August 13, 2005 – Nashville Shores, Nashville TN – The 2005 APBA National Championships held at the Nashville Shores Water Park brought thousands of spectators this weekend along with some of the biggest names in PWC racing.  With over 350 entries, this year’s national event has been said to be one of the largest in history.  PWC racing action is back and here to stay, this is a clear indicator of what is to come this year at the 2005 IJSBA world finals in Lake Havasu City Arizona.

Racers from all over the US and Canada battled for national titles against some of the fastest watercrafts on the water today.  From start to finish, each race was action packed with passing and rubbing into the first turn.

One of the biggest classes on the water was Novice Runabout 1200 Limited.  These watercrafts hit speeds of over 70 plus miles per hour.  Freddy Vaca from Dallas Texas, coming back from a dead motor start in moto two, fought his way back up front to pull of another national championship finishing 3rd overall.  Going into the world finals with a national win, Vaca looks to be a top contender at this years 2005 World Finals.  Kenny Sims, manager and chief mechanic says “Freddy has come along way given this is his second year of racing, he has overcome some major obstacles, he is trying to get used to riding a boat with more power then he is used to.  He is also competing again experts and pros this year which will make him a better rider.  He will be ready for Havasu this year, his aggressive attitude and style will get him out front”.  Jeff Wright, Vaca’s team mate also brought home another national championship finishing 3rd in Pro-Am Ski Stock.
