Freddy Vaca
from Dallas Texas qualifies for the 2005 IJSBA world
finals in two classes, Amateur R/A 1200 Open and
Novice R/A 1200 Limited. Only 13 other riders
qualified for the main race in Novice R/A 1200
Limited and 16 in Amateur R/A 1200 Open. This is
Vaca’s second year qualifying for the mains in two
classes at the World Finals.
Vaca
suffered an unfortunate mechanical difficulty
costing him the world championship. During moto one
in Novice R/A 1200 Limited class, Vaca was towed off
the water as his race craft lost fuel pressure
during the final lap trailing race leader
Mitchell Newlin in second
place. In moto two, Vaca takes back the lead
finishing in 1st place. With the
combined scores in moto one and two, Vaca finishes 6th
overall in the world.
On
Thursday, October 13th Vaca qualified for
Amateur R/A 1200 Open race against some of the
biggest names in PWC racing. Novice, Expert and
Pro-Am classes where combined for the first time
into one race, Vaca was the only registered Novice
rider for this race. During the qualifying heat
race, Vaca collided with Billy Deerman going into
the first turn. Vaca finished 4th
securing his position into the main race. Only the
top 6 riders from each heat race transfer to the
main race along with the top four racers from the
last chance qualifier (LCQ) race, Vaca finished 14th
overall competing against expert and pro-am riders.
Vaca will be attending the 2005 Kings Cup in
